Casa Feliz Wedding

Casa Feliz Orlando Florida Wedding I shot Tania and Albert’s wedding at the Casa Feliz last month.  It was absolutely beautiful.  Tania was gorgeous.  She has been a little concerned that she is not normally photogenic.  I think now we can all let her know (comments below people) that she is off her rocker.  I met Tania at the at the Park Plaza Hotel on Park Avenue in Winter Park -so gorge!!  I used to live near there, and I forgot how much I love Park Avenue!  Tania found her dress here in Melbourne at Elda’s Bridal Boutique.  She said that after shopping in several boutiques in Orlando and feeling frustrated by some of the sales methods, she stopped into Elda’s, explained what she was looking for, was given this dress to try on and it was perfect.  What a wonderful review for Elda’s customer service!  You’ll see Tania’s style spelled out below with designers and fragrances from Chanel, to Prada, to Christian Louboutin.  Oh and she chose the Casa Feliz which doesn’t even require explanation.  Normally I prefer not to drive far for a wedding, since the work day is long to begin with.  Don’t get me wrong, if you’re getting married in Mexico, Fiji or even the South Seas Resort on Captiva Island right here in Florida, I’m there.  But a drive before an 8 hr wedding, then a drive home?  Not usually something I get excited about, until now.  Bricks act like a natural reflector of light.  So, if you choose a location that can offer you this kind of glowing light, you are moving in the right direction.  If that location also offers beautiful historic architecture, a warm yet gorgeous atmosphere and spanish details (my personal favorite- I felt like I was in St. Augustine) then you have now hit the jackpot.  Of course it may not be for everyone, the Casa Feliz is divided into several rooms rather than just one large ballroom, and dinner (which was delicious and beautiful) was served in the courtyard (which happens to be surrounded by brick!) If I was a guy I would be chest bumping my buddies over this shoot.  Okay, hmmm, other vendors: Maria Shafer DJ (great work and she’s a regular at the Casa), Caterer: Arthur’s, Flowers: Apple Blossom Florist, Favors: homemade caramels from Etsy.  Tania and Albert were great to work with of course.  They booked their wedding with me a year in advance and I’m so glad they did.  Enjoy your highlights guys and I’ll see you soon in the studio for the main gallery presentation!

Okay I’m so happy to have this up to share. My children have been out of school for the whole week.  Public schools here, however, had off only part of the week.  I was thinking how when I was a kid and my cousin was visiting I could take her to school with me for the day.  So I thought, hey maybe my kids have some “cousins” in town who go to “Surfside Elementary” and want to bring their “cousin” to school?  Then I thought, somebody’s cousin probably brought drugs to school once and now no one can bring cousins anymore. Dear fictitious-drug-using-cousin, thanks for ruining my plan!

On the brighter side, I am shooting today for the first ever Family Legacy Project.  It is an original idea of mine and completely exclusive to Angel Gray Photography.  Because it is quite detailed and involving several forms of media, it will be a month or two before you see the first finished product.  Oh but just you wait.  In 2011, we will be accepting one family per month for this premium service.

Also, I’m shooting for the Art Museum this month, a project involving several photographers from the area, local “celebrities” and some serious creativity.  I can’t wait to see my work with Dr. Bishop finished and invite you to the opening!

These things plus the incredible Trash the Dress shoot with Noel recently (soon to be seen here) have kept my creative juices flowing even in a season that is quite hectic and full of tight deadlines.  I’ll be focused on client orders from now until mid December but I’ll see you here as I go along!  December is closed for bookings unless you’d like to be on a list for possible cancellations.

I hope everyone has a beautiful Thanksgiving, spending time with family.  And even though I do get slightly annoyed at being thankful on “cue” (because I’m stubborn that way) it doesn’t hurt to stop and realize how privileged we are as Americans, how blessed we are by friends and family and how even when we do have difficult situations and heavy loads to bear, we have a God who offers to carry us through.

I’m thankful for my loyal friends and clients who never cease to amaze me.  Blessings to you!
