I’m so excited to share this post! First of all, I LOVE photographing high school seniors – like super love.
Brooke is graduating from Satellite High School and the icing on the cake is that I can remember when she was born and I was a senior at Satellite at that time. Full circle moment!
Her parents have been family friends my entire life. The story goes that I wasn’t very happy when Terry and Carlos got engaged because apparently I felt like Carlos was “mine.” (I was six.)
These guys are a part of my family. They have a really fun history of wild times with my parents, holidays together, inside jokes and just the sharing of life’s ups and downs for the past 30+ years. Whenever I photograph a senior I’m always so aware of how far they’ve come through childhood into young adulthood and the amazing horizon ahead as they venture into the next season of life. I’m also conscious of how their parents share in that achievement – having loved, supported, disciplined and guided their child from birth to this moment. Parents graduate too, although from what I hear the job is never done! Brooke and her parents have not had it quite as easy as most of us. While they share in the blessings and abundance of our wonderful country, they have had physical obstacles to overcome and adapt to, one step at a time.
Blessings to you Brooke, as you see this goal checked off the list and soak in the accomplishment. Knowing you, I know you experience this with a humble and grateful heart as God has been your strength through it all and He will continue to be. The future is bright not because of all the goals you will surely check off next but because you are a light to the world.
xoxo
