Hey Friends! It’s time for the 4th Conquer Your Camera Alumni Challenge!
I’ve been looking forward to this next challenge, which is open to all our past Conquer Your Camera workshop participants!
Participation in the last three challenge events (check them all out using this link) was terrific, both in submissions and voting -so thanks! I hope that you’ll all participate regardless of your current expertise or if you weren’t able to join last time – because the heart of the challenge is three simple parts:
- 1. Practice you might not do without an incentive! Use information you have learned but need to IMPLEMENT in order to KEEP.
- 2. Get those creative juices flowing! Getting out of the norm is AWESOME for creative energy. Even if the challenge theme doesn’t float your boat DO-IT-ANYWAY.
- 3. Learn from each other! Finalists will be chosen from the entries then voting will open HERE ON THE BLOG – anyone can vote including non-CYC! Once we have a winner, that person will have a featured blog entry explaining the settings they used, lens choice, description of the environment, etc. And we all learn (even non-alum) so everyone is HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY. Plus there’s a PRIZE.
AGP will keep offering the CYC Alumni Challenge as long as everyone is enjoying it and sending submissions in.
If you have not participated in the Conquer Your Camera Workshop yet, the next one is currently open for registration on June 21-22 — only four spots left!
CONQUER YOUR CAMERA CHALLENGE IV DETAILS !
THEME: Animals! Including: furry things, creepy things, tame and wild things, slimy swimming things, flying things, buzzing and crawling things (I realize that not all of these are technically classified as animals, but you get the idea.) Feel free to approach this in your own way: cute and cuddly, dramatic and serious, abstract or funny, etc. As usual, the more you can demonstrate your skills using shutter speed, aperture, lighting and composition, the better! You can feel free to use a flash but keep in mind that it will need to be done well to make it to the finals. Feel free to email questions. Also, please read how to enter; you must include that information with your submission and provide your image correctly.
HOW-TO-ENTER: If you have taken the Conquer Your Camera workshop at any time please submit your photo (one per person) via email to angel@angelgrayphotography.com. I will confirm it has been received so make sure you watch for that confirmation. Please send high resolution without watermark. Please include information in your email such as: camera body, camera settings, lens choice and a brief summary of any post processing. (It’s okay if you edit the image but we do want to know how and would prefer no major alterations unless the theme is actually post processing. It’s best if the image does not look like it was edited using Instagram.)
***We must have your submission by midnight on Sunday May 25th. This gives you almost two weeks -plenty of time people!!***
FINALISTS WILL BE CHOSEN by a panel of three judges including myself. We will look closely at: theme, exposure, focus, composition, creativity and guidelines for entry. Anywhere from 3-10 chosen images will be featured for voting based on the strength of the entries. Finalists will be announced on the blog just a few days after the submission deadline and voting will begin immediately!
VOTING: Finalists will be posted to the blog (images only) and we’ll provide instructions on the Facebook Page for how to vote and for when the voting closes.
WINNING: The winner of this challenge will receive a $50 gift certificate to Amazon as well as MAJOR fame (groupies, the works) and the admiration of us all including a spotlight post on the AGP blog featuring your photograph, your story and the settings behind it.
Since I don’t really photograph lots of animals, I’ll post my favorite crawling friend lately… Let’s DO this!
