I had the pleasure of meeting with Jill and Thomas of Sandsational for portraits and headshots – some modern takes on the portrait of an artist. As a World Champion, they travel around the world frequently and are often asked for pictures to display in galleries or printed media along with their artwork, something to help people get a feel for the artist behind these amazing sand sculptures. They wanted to have both the standard head shot as well as something maybe a little more fun. Since they are a couple as well, it was great to be able to capture some personal moments for them too. They are both so creative and smart and just lots of fun to work with. I loved their outfits and I hope they love my take on Sandsational! To work so hard on such an impermanent art form is really amazing and must require people of extreme patience as well as the personal freedom to let go and move on to whatever is next. They were so sweet to give me a calendar and I have it hanging here in my home office. The kids have been asking how can they do that?? I’m hoping to bring them to the event here in the fall out at the stadium where they’ll be able to see the work of several amazing sand sculpters on display.
