I photographed Baby Parker a couple weeks ago, actually on the very day my neice was born in Ohio so right before I left to go up there and see her. We shot this newborn session in the studio because Parker and his family actually lives in Orlando -I usually shoot newborn in your home. This sweet boy was not only born over 10 lbs (I think almost 11?) but he continued his first born overachiever-ness during our session and stayed awake nearly the whole time! It’s great when newborns sleep a lot for 2 reasons: 1- you get pictures of your child awake for the rest of their life (and there will definitely be days a few months from now you’ll want to remember that sleepy newborn phase) and 2- I can help them curl up and into poses that they may not be so still for if they were awake. Although you will see Parker sleeping in some of these, there are also several examples of why it’s still fun if your baby is awake -and winking at you.
